What tools are needed for search engine optimization

In reality there are not very many tools needed for search engine optimization. There are countless tools out there that have tons of bells and whistles but most of them are completely unnecessary and are not needed and most of the tools you will need for search engine optimization are completely free. For example some of the most used tools that I personally use our notepad and Microsoft Word which came on my personal computer. Another tool that I use more than any other tool is Microsoft Excel which allows me to track the links and the websites I own and built. These tools are completely free and they are hands down one of the most necessary tools in regards to search engine optimization in order to cut down on time because without these tools everything would need to be handwritten and could be easily mistaken or lost. One of the first tools you will want to get one starting search engine optimization is an aggregator that crawls the web and pulls the links out from each individual site which are pointing to them and shows you in a very detailed manner.

For example you could use mozs which is an aggregator that crawls the web. They even give you a free 30 day trial to their site which is more than enough for you to do plenty of work before you need to renew your free 30 day trial using a different email address. I have been doing search engine optimization for a very long time and just continuously change my email address so I don’t need to pay for many tools because these companies are kind enough to allow me to use their tools for free with their free trials. Another tool that I use quite often when purchasing auction domains is a register compass. Register compass is another aggregator that crawls the sites that are up for auction and expired and shows you the metrics behind those sites. This is a very good tool because it is nicely laid out and the information it provides is very detailed and easy to understand which allows you to easily search through auction domains so that you can buy sites to incorporate into your private blog network.

Some of the final tools you will want to get when doing search engine optimization is some kind of coaching. The main reason behind this is due to the fact the search engine optimization is constantly changing and evolving and without having multiple eyes on things and having’s countless case studies coming from various people doing various things it is very easy for an individual to fall behind on search engine optimization. This is one of the key reasons why you will want to become part of some kind of a search engine optimization group. It will allow you to stay vigilant and up to date on all information in regards to search engine optimizations and what is and isn’t working. I’m personally part of a group that has helped countless people generate hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars in some of the coaches within this program make six figures a month through search engine optimization both client and affiliate. This could hands down be one of the most expensive parts of search engine optimization but trust me when I say that every penny spent on coaching is well worth it if your coach is truly a search engine optimization expert. How to start search engine optimization on a website

One of the first things you will want to do when starting search engine optimization on a website is to ensure that the website is indexed. If the site is not indexed within the search engines then it cannot be found within the search engines because they do not know of its existence. The first objective will be getting the site indexed within the search engines. This can be done by informing the search engines that your site exists or by pointing links to it that will be crawled by the search engines thus showing them that your site exist. Either way is effective but depending on the type of site you are building sometimes you do not want to inform the search engines of your existence you would rather have them find your site on their own and then start ranking it from there. The next thing you will want to do is to determine the age of the site. If you have a brand-new site in the ranking process will be extremely slow because you have not built up any trust your site in the search engines do not want to rank a brand-new site right off the bat because like stated earlier your site is not trustworthy. If you have an older site however with links pointing to it already then it can be trusted by the search engines and the ranking process can be much faster.

The next thing you will want to do is to check to see if the website is penalized. If your website is penalized then it will not be able to get any higher than the third page of the search engines because they have dubbed your site as being untrustworthy and they would not want to show it within their search engine results pages because they only want the best information for the individuals using their search engines. If this happens to your site you need to completely start over most of the time because you will have found yourself with a spam penalty which more than likely than not cannot be undone. Once you have determined if your site is penalized or not you will want to look at the on page content. If you are attempting to rank for plumber then you will want to make sure that the word plumber is on the actual site itself and on the specific pages your attempting to rank for that keyword. You will want to make sure that it is on their at least a handful of times but you do not want to have it on there more than 2 to 3% in comparison to your overall word count. For example if you had 1000 words you would not want to have the word plumber on there more than 20 to 30 times and realistically you would want even less than that because you will very easily become over optimized for that keyword which is something the search engines do not like.

If you are over optimized then you will want to under optimized yourself and if you are under optimized then you will want to optimize yourself. Next you will look at the back links that are pointing to your site along with anchor text that are used within those back links. If you have a lot of spam he back links pointing to your site then you can disavow them. This is generally where you will get your base idea of how long it will take for you to rank depending on the links pointing to your site and by also analyzing the competition in seeing what kind of links to have pointing to their site and the power in which their site possesses. Once you have done this you will want to check your current rankings. This will also help you to get a baseline as to how long it will take for you to rank within the search engines. These are just a few of the first steps that you will want to partake in when attempting to rank a site in the search engines and conduct search engine optimization for either yourself or a client.

What is SEO?

Search engine optimization is the process of taking a site that currently isn’t ranking for its keywords and optimizing to in a way that makes it favorable to the search engines. This can be done many different ways and some common terminology used by seo’ers is white hat tactics and black hat tactics. White hat tactics involves the use of specific tactics that are favorable to google and generally don’t go outside of the terms of services put into place. Black hat tactics completely disregard the term of service and use tactics that are frowned and generally end up with the target websites being penalized of even deindexed. This can be detrimental to a business that works with a company that uses black hat tactics because their website has the potential of being deindexed which virtually means that website is useless.

White hat tactics are better to use because they adhere to the terms of service and they generally work, just at a much slower rate.  White hat tactics involve creating local citations that point back to the website you are trying to rank in the search engines. These citations are for the most part directories that point back to your website and they generally have the businesses NAP (name, address, phone number) on them. It is imperative that you have your NAP identical on all the citations you create in order to have them work properly. If your NAP is incorrect and not consistent throughout your citation it will, for lack of better terms, confuse the algorithms thus making it hard for the search engine to truly know the exact location of your business. By having these citations built properly it will help you website to rank in the “snack pack” better known as the maps. The benefit of being found in the maps is the fact that you show at the top of the search engine results and this can happen even if your website isn’t found on the top of the page.

Black hat tactics are used by companies that have no regard for the work they are doing and they are more worried about the paycheck they will receive. This is a very unethical way to go about doing search engine optimization but it is a very real truth that many people use this tactic. Thankfully there are many companies out there that don’t use black hat tactics and when they help to rank your site they do it the right way and the rankings will last generally for a very good amount of time depending on the keywords and the competition in that specific niche. There are many great SEO companies out there and they are found all throughout the world. You need to be careful when choosing a company to work with and you need to be sure to do your due diligence to ensure that you are working with a company that is right for you and has the common goal of success for all their clients. Why would you use an SEO expert?

There are many reasons why someone would hire an seo expert which include helping with conversion, improving the look of their website or because they want to be ranked above all others in their niche. An seo expert can help with all of the above but you need to make sure you pick the right person for the job. Many “expert” are a one trick pony. They will do the one thing they know and if that doesn’t work they will tell you nothing more can be done. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The phrase you get what you pay for couldn’t be truer when it comes to finding the right person for the job. If you find someone who says it can all be done for a very small amount you should expect to get a very small amount of work done and if someone is asking you to take out a home equity line of credit out on your house because the cost will be so high you might be dealing with the wrong individual too. You need to do research and make sure that they can back up the claims they are making about being able to rank your website. It is very important that you do your research before giving anyone your hard earned money.
Getting back on topic you would use an expert to help you generate more clients thus leading to your business growing which means more revenue. This could help you retire a few years early or help to get you that new car you’ve been dreaming of. Search engine optimization experts are able to alter both your business and your personal lives in a great way. Most businesses have a website that is rarely seen by anyone other than the business owner him or herself. This is because it is not properly set up with the right information in the right place for the search engine to properly rank the site. Luckily people know how to change this and make it so your site gets all the attention. If you have ever found yourself asking why your website is so far back in the search engine results pages it’s probably due to a few key reasons which are on-page content and links.

A good seo expert will look at your on-page content as one of the first steps they do. I can’t tell you about the few steps that come before that because they’re the reason why I can rank so many sites. But, back to the content, you need to make sure that you have all the keywords you want to rank for in your content at least once and you don’t want to have them in there more than about 2% of the time. You can find this out by taking the number of time you say the keyword and dividing it by the number of words you have on the page. The more words you have on each page the greater the percentage can be. In our next article we’ll dig deeper into this and give away some of our hidden tricks.

How Does Search Engine Optimization Work?

Search engine optimization is both a skill and an art. Anyone off the streets can come in and add links to a site but not everyone knows how to do this correctly, this is where the art comes into play. You need to be able to read over websites content and know which features need to be changed or altered to make them show up in the search engines properly for the keywords you want to rank for. This is called optimization. You need the correct amount of optimization in order for the search engine to know you are about a specific topic and so you don’t look spammed while doing so. If you are over optimized you will never be ranked first because this is something that the search engines do not like at all. If you are under optimized the same thing happens. If you are trying to rank for a keyword but you never have the word in your content then the search engines will never know that you are about the topic or keyword. It is imperative that you get all of your optimization done by a profession or looked over by someone who truly knows what they are doing before you begin linking to a site.
Once your optimization is taken care of it is time to link. You can do this in many different ways and depending on who you learn this from will make all the difference in the world. There are also different tactics that can be taken whole linking. In the article above we talked about white hat and black hat tactics. You’ll need to decide which side of the force you’re going to join. But generally speaking you’ll begin by making generic profiles on sites that will link back to your site such as social profiles and citations. These are sites that allow you to add your link or url to their site which then links back to your site. This is good to help with building trust to your site. The more trust you have the better you will rank in the search engines. Another thing to keep in mind when building these site is the fact that they will generally ask you for you NAP or name, address and phone number. It is vital that you always use the exact same information when filling out these areas. If you don’t you will confuse the search engines and they will have trouble determining where you true location is and this can cause problems when attempting to rank in the maps.
Another very important thing that you need to keep in mind is the fact that these social properties and citation will not all be indexed. You may build 300 of each but only 5% will be indexed, this is a numbers game. You want to build as many quality sites linking back to you as possible. Next we will cover other tactics that can be taken; we hope you join us on the journey of knowledge.
